Southern Union Company
Challenge
The company’s goal was to support a single IT environment
across multiple subsidiaries. The challenge would be to move toward
successful installation of all systems while at the same time accommodating
acquisitions of other utilities and IT environments which grew the
company’s customer base from 500,000 to 1.2 million.
Solution
TMG participated in the development of a company-wide strategic
IT plan. This plan formed the basis for the next five years of system
replacement initiatives. TMG assisted in an integrated Product Evaluation
and Selection effort which encompassed three states, two central
computing centers and various solutions including Customer Information
System, cashiering, in-truck terminal dispatch, gas accounting and
supply, general ledger, budget, A/P, A/R, fixed asset CPR, project
management, inventory, purchasing, human resources, and payroll
from various outsourced mainframe environments and in-house midrange
computers. TMG assisted with installation activities through 1996.
