Sierra Pacific Power Company
Challenge
Under legislative requirements SPPC needed systems which could accommodate
retail choice for its 46,000 customers in California.
Solution
TMG provided quality assurance oversight for SPR’s
implementation of ORCOM E-CIS for California customers, SCT Banner
for SPPC customers, and SCT Banner for NPC customers. TMG also provided quality assurance oversight for portions of the PeopleSoft
ERP implementation.
Result
The utility moved quickly to implement an outsourced solution from
Orcom, and California customers were up and running within three
months. The solution accommodates customer acquisition, enrollment,
transfers and all payment and billing transactions through the Orcom
E-CIS Transaction gateway. Nevada passed legislation (AB366) in
mid 1997 to restructure the electric industry. According to the
legislation, the market was to open to all customer classes (industrial,
commercial and residential) on December 31, 1999, for generation
and aggregation services. This was delayed until 2001. The utility
was moving toward installation of phase one to accommodate retail
choice customers, however with delay in the market opening, they
moved into phase two activities to convert all customers off of
the old legacy systems onto the new SCT Banner CIS.
