Challenge
ElectriCities saw a common need for customer Solution across its member utilities, and it needed to build consensus toward a single solution.

Solution
The Joint Action Agency engaged TMG to assemble interested members to evaluate and select a common CIS solution which could be hosted at ElectriCities and offered in a co-sourced environment to member cities. TMG assisted nine members representing 150,000 customers in a CIS product evaluation and selection effort. The project proved challenging as TMG worked with many cities to build consensus.

Result
The initial effort was tabled when investor-owned utilities made a bid for the municipal based distribution systems in North Carolina. This movement passed and the CIS initiative was resurrected. The Board approved the offering of a CIS product solution to its member utilities. The team selected Harris-Cayenta solution for its larger members and the NorthStar solution for the smaller members.
