Town of Addison
Challenge
The city had minimal information technology at the desktop and throughout
the city to support its business operations. The population was
expected to grow significantly and the city did not want to hire
personnel to support growth in the customer base. So, they turned
to technology. The biggest challenge was to identify and rank the
technology needs of all city departments from the mayors office,
to the library, to the water utility.
Solution
TMG was hired through a competitive bid process beating
several consulting firms for the right to develop a city-wide information
technology plan, resulting in the following technology solution
components: Wide Area Network, Infrastructure Support, Disaster
Recovery, Town Web Site, Customer Web Dialog, Customer Web Requests
and Complaints, User Computing Support, Desktop/Notebooks, Mopier/Laser
BW, Laser Color, Office Suite, Office Email, CD-ROM, Volume Storage,
Office Groupware, Intranet, Communication Layer, Remote Computing,
Fax Management, Public Kiosks, Automated Voice Response, Council
Electronic Access, Internet Access, Remote Presentation, Application
Support, Financial System Upgrades, CAD Park Design, Convention
Center, Barcode Cas Receipt Documents, Park Inventory System, SPA
Monitoring and Automation, Traffic Signal Upgrades, Fleet Services,
Fuel Inventory Interface, Tax map Digital Conversions, Irrigation
System Upgrades, and Marketing Management.
Results
The IT plan was overwhelmingly approved by the City Council and
a comprehensive evaluation and selection effort was initiated to
begin purchasing and implementing components of the plan in a phased
approach. The plan has been successfully implemented.
